The young generation
This play mainly shows us three young girls’ growing stories during their youth hood and their disobedience against their parents (especially their mothers). Although I think what their mothers do is not so universal (at least my mother does not cage me so firmly), yet the fact these three young girls reflect does exist: their independence (particularly in the way they think of things). There are several opinions I want to express.
First, the mother generation’s thoughts are not always correct or useful in nowadays society, but I don’t mean to deny all their values of opinions. They can tell us what they think is right and give us suggestions, and we willingly choose what we think is acceptable. But it is unworkable for them to impose their thoughts on us, let alone forcing us to realize their dreams. In the play, Pili is an example. Because of her mother’s imposition on her, she at last decided to lie to her family to realize her own dream.
Second, the young generation tends to be more independent. We have our own value of life and stick to it. But always there will be conflicts between the young and their parents. From the play, I learn that the way of communicating between each other and mutual understanding to deal with conflicts is much more useful. I think it is the only way to keep a harmonious relationship between two generations.
Finally this play shows the young generation’s strong sense of responsibility. One inevitably makes mistakes. It is not unforgettable, for what is more important is the attitude of confessing and correcting these mistakes. These figures in the play like Qian Xiaoyang, Zhou Jin and Fang Yu set a good example. Their courage of undertaking what they have done is worth learning.

The different seasons
Firstly, varied weather or climate broadens the range of our pastimes. Take my hometown, Xinxiang, China as an example. In my childhood, my grandparents always fire up a stove in winter so we can all sit around the stove to warm ourselves. At that time, my grandmother always tells some fantastic stories to me and my sister. I believe that’s the happiest time in my life. But when I moved to Canton, there is no chance to see snow so that I can’t enjoy the storytelling around the stove. In addition, I live skating very much, but I can only skate in the Skate room.
Secondly, the change of climate gives us opportunities to wear many kinds of clothes. See if you see the same type of clothes all year long, you may be tired of seeing the monotonous dressing. Wearing various clothes can be a great attraction for girls and, looking at others’ fashion, felling the change of the seasons is also attractive for me.
Thirdly, changing of the climates and seasons is very beneficial to our health. A doctor once said that when winter comes our body’s metabolism slows down and when summer comes it speeds up, so that our body can maintain a good rhythm. I think these words make sense. Also, the snows in the winter can provide enough water and nutrition to the crops.
Some of my friends prefer the places like Miami to spend thanks giving break time, but I do not agree with them. After experiencing summer and fall at UIUC, why not continually enjoy the beautiful winter? I love the different seasons in this university, what about you?

Should university require student to attend classes? Some people may believe that going to classes should be optional, but I really disagree with them about it. I do not understand how a college student can learn much knowledge if s/he even doesn't attend classes. Although nowadays some people argue frequently whether a student can study without a teacher, tradition has it that class is a firm part of the school life. As far as i am concerned, no matter whether students like it or not, they must attend classes.
The main reason of not to attend classes is they can learn knowledge by themselves. By not attending class, students can control the time by themselves. Even though I think there maybe have one or two advantages of not attending classes, I insist that the benefit of attending classes can be far overweigh than not attending.
In the first place, in classes students receive the benefit of the instructor's acquirement. A instructor always teach more than just going through the textbook; s/he also tell students his own experience, his own understanding which is useful for student to comprehend. Textbooks normally provide just concentrated knowledge. In addition, the instructor may show the student some visual documents which help students to reach the knowledge more directly.
Second, student who attend classes will also benefit from the group discussion with other classmate. There is an old Chinese saying" three stupid man claver than the smartest man". When you discuss the questions with your partner, you can always spark out some smashing ideas that one can not think out by own. Also, today's society emphasize the skills of communication and listening to other people's opinions. And it is important to share your ideas with other people. There is no doubt that attending classes can train students to have good sense of teamwork. In the lecture, students are often given the group assignments that required cooperation.Meanwhile, they can learn strong point from other students.
In short, going to classes give students more knowledge, help them to become more cooperative and responsible. So I think one must attend classes if one wants to be a better student.

living in dorm or apartment?
A student living in an apartment may have the reason that he can share his room with other students who would reduce his burden of paying the rent. While living in a dormitory one cannot have this type of advantage. On the other hand, a student who prefer to live in a dormitory may thinks that they do not have to spend their time on cooking so that they can spend more time on studying.
Dormitories always located on campus and living on campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things going on. You can get the whole university experience. Plus, you have more chance to interact and to develop friendship with other students. This includes not only with your roommates, but also everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be of a good help to the freshmen.Living in the dormitory also makes a student feel more like a member of the university community. There are more opportunities of becoming involved in university activities and networking offered to students who lived in dormitory.
Apartment have quietly different surroundings. Students usually have fewer neighbours and roommates so that they have less distraction. Thus, students can concentrate better on their homework and reading. Moreover, finding an apartment, making a leases and associating with the landlord are all good preparation for life after graduation. This kind of practise helps students become into adulthood.
Living in apartment also gives students freedom. You do not have to adjust your eating and sleeping habits regarding to your roommates. Living in an apartment you can bring your friends to your room while in dormitory you must consider your roommates.
In conclusion, I think it's better to live in dormitory for freshmen so that they can make friends with each other and get helps from older students. When you are in sophomore year or higher, you also can find an apartment near the school.
So, I am satisfy with the arrangement that U of I make.
